What’s the Cost to Rent a Suit Online?

What’s the Cost to Rent a Suit Online?

Renting a suit is much cheaper and more effective than purchasing in 2017.  You are going to find better quality and better fitting product than you would if you grabbed one in your price range at your favorite clothing store.  Let us help you compare the cost to rent a suit to what it would cost to purchase the same suit and you can decide for yourself.

If you are looking to make a strong impression in your upcoming interview, I’m glad that you found this article. For most roles and companies, wearing a suit during the interview is a smart move if you want to compete with the other job candidates in today’s market.

One of the biggest keys to landing a job is making a good first impression.  Showing up in your favorite sports jersey will certainly make a first impression, but it’s probably not the kind of impression you were aiming for.  Showing up in a suit, on the other hand, is a solid interview outfit foundation that you can alter based on the specific company.

I think we can all agree that wearing a suit is important, but now let’s look at what it’s going to cost you.

The Cost to Rent a Suit

The Cost to Rent a Suit

The cost of renting a suit can vary depending on where you rent it and which suit you choose.  Here at Own The Boardroom, you can rent a suit for between $65.00 and $109.00.  We currently stock Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo, and Lauren Ralph Lauren.

You can keep the suit for either 3 or 7 days and we include a prepaid label for easy return: simply drop it off at a UPS store, or leave it with the concierge at your hotel.  We will send you an email to let you know that we received the suit and confirm that the transaction is complete.

The Cost to Buy a Suit

For this example, we will use the cost of a Calvin Klein, slim-fit navy blue suit because that is one of our most common rentals.  For clarity, we’re only talking about the suit jacket and pants. If you were to buy the full suit, it would cost you more than $650!

Would you rather pay $650 for an interview suit you are only going to wear once or twice, or pay $89.00 and not have to worry about dry clean costs and steaming out wrinkles?

I should also mention that a suit you purchase off of the shelf has a six inch drop between the jacket size and waist size.  If your jacket size and waist size aren't exactly six inches in difference, you will need to pay someone to tailor your pants if you want them to fit right.  Here at Own The Boardroom, we understand that most people's jacket and waist sizes are not exactly six inches apart.  We are going to send you the right size pants so that you don't have to deal with that hassle!

Unless you plan on wearing the suit on a regular basis, I think the decision is clear. You would have to wear and dry clean that suit more than eight times for it to be cheaper than the cost to rent a suit.  With the majority of offices following a casual daily dress code, wearing a suit that much just isn’t necessary.

The Hassles of Suit Care

The Hassles of Suit Care

Taking care of a suit is a lot more work than most people realize.  You can’t throw it in a laundry basket at the end of the day and wash it with your other work clothes.  You can’t even run an iron over it when you grab it from the back of your closet and realize the pants are creased in strange places from the hanger. You need to dry clean a suit and that will cost you time and money!  Plus, if you spill something on it, the dry clean costs could end up being as much as a suit rental if you want it looking new again.

When you aren’t using your suit, you will need to store it hanging.  This can take up valuable closet space for something that may be out of date the next time you need to wear it.
